The Ghana Police Service has ramped up efforts to capture Fatau Motorway, a suspect linked to violent clashes between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Mamobi, Accra, on 13 October.
Fatau Motorway, who was reportedly caught on camera wielding a weapon during the skirmishes, is still at large. The clashes have heightened tensions in the area, sparking concerns about security as Ghana heads toward the 2024 general elections.
In an official statement, the Police called on the public to assist in their intelligence-led investigation by providing any information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest. To encourage cooperation, they have announced a reward of GH₵20,000 for credible information resulting in his capture.
The Police assured potential informants of complete confidentiality and protection, emphasizing that this initiative is part of broader efforts to ensure accountability for the violence and foster a peaceful political climate ahead of the polls.
The security agency also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and have urged political stakeholders to prioritize peace and security in the electoral period.
