Police Summon Kingsley Nyarko and EC Officials for questioning regarding alleged bribery incident in Ejisu bBy-Election

The Ghana Police Service has initiated investigations into the alleged electoral misconduct implicating temporary officers of the Electoral Commission (EC) and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwadaso, Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, during the by-election in Ejisu, Ashanti Region.

A widely circulated video on April 30 captured Dr. Nyarko placing a white envelope on a table in front of two EC officials during the by-election, sparking accusations of potential interference in the electoral process.

In a statement posted on X on Friday, the police confirmed the launch of investigations into the incident, stating, “The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigation into the alleged electoral offence involving some temporary officers of the Electoral Commission and a Member of Parliament during the by-election at Ejisu in the Ashanti region.”

The statement further disclosed that the individuals implicated, namely George Sasu, Regina Serwaa, and Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, have been summoned by the Police to provide assistance in the investigation, and their statements have been duly recorded. The Police also noted their collaboration with the Electoral Commission in the ongoing investigation.
