President Akufo-Addo to confer national honours in farewell ceremony
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is scheduled to bestow National Honours and Awards on distinguished individuals on Monday, December 30. This event, which will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre, serves as the final major ceremony of his administration before he leaves office.
The National Honours and Awards ceremony recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to Ghana’s progress through selfless service and remarkable achievements. It is a celebration of national excellence, aimed at highlighting those whose contributions have significantly shaped the nation’s development.
A notification letter signed by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, states that all nominees are expected to arrive at the venue by 11 a.m. for the investiture. The letter also outlines the dress code, encouraging formal or traditional attire such as Kente, Fugu, or suits, which reflect Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and the solemnity of the occasion.
Nominees are allowed to invite up to two family members to witness this prestigious event. Each recipient has been issued a personalized invitation card, signed by President Akufo-Addo, confirming their participation in the ceremony.
The event not only honors individual accomplishments but also reinforces the importance of collective national pride and cultural identity.
Five categories of awards will be presented during the ceremony:
1. Order of the Star and Eagles of Ghana
2. Order of the Star of Ghana
3. Order of the Volta
4. The Medal for Gallantry
5. The Grand Medal
This significant occasion will serve as a testament to the enduring value of service, excellence, and patriotism in Ghana.
