The lead suspect in the murder of Professor Emmanuel Yaw Benneh, a University of Ghana law lecturer, has died, according to police sources.
James Nana Wamba, 29, is said to have passed away last Saturday, October 17, at the Police Hospital in Accra.
He is said to have been rushed to the hospital after his court hearing on Wednesday, October 14, where he was treated and discharged, the state-owned Daily Graphic reported.
But police sources say, he was later sent to the hospital last Saturday and was admitted for treatment but died shortly afterwards.
The cause of his death is not yet known.
The deceased, who was a cleaner at Prof Benneh’s house, was said to have killed the law lecturer after he resisted a robbery attempt.
He was said to have committed the act together with two others and had been charged with conspiracy to commit crime and murder by the Kaneshie District Court.
