A cleaner has confessed in court to his involvement in the murder of the University of Ghana law lecturer, Professor Emmanuel Yaw Benneh.

The cleaner James Nana Womba has now been charged with murder with one other Opambour Agya Badu Nkansah.

Three others Christian Pobee, 32, cleaner; Isaac Botchwey, 41, houseboy; cleaner; and Adams Mensah Mansur, 52, gardener have been discharged.

The prosecutor, Inspector Ebenezer Teye-Okuffo, said Womba upon investigation confessed to the murder with two others who are on the run.

The Kaneshie District Court presided over by Mrs Eleanor Kakra Barnes Botchway adjourned the case to October 14 and issued a bench warrant for the arrested of the two who are at large.

The court subsequently remanded the two into police custody, to enable the police to conduct further investigations into the suspected murder.

The late Prof Benneh was found murdered at his residence in Accra on Saturday, September 12.

According to his colleague at the Faculty, Dr Poku Adusei, the lecturer was “murdered” in the same fashion as the late Abuakwa North MP, Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu.

“It appears to be an act perpetuated about three days ago [Thursday], but it was just discovered this morning,” he said of the unfortunate incident at late Prof Benneh’s.

Police picked up the body of Prof Benneh who lives alone from his home on that fateful day.

Per documents at the Kaneshie District Court Prof Benneh was found dead with a rag in his mouth with his hands and legs tied with a rope.
