Former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, has called for a total restructuring of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership, following the party’s poor performance in the 2024 general elections.

In an interview with Nhyira FM in Kumasi, the respected heart surgeon did not hold back in his criticism of the party’s current leadership. He described them as ineffective and directly blamed them for the party’s “shameful” and “unprecedented” loss.

“All the executives must resign for leading the party to an unprecedented defeat. If the demons in the NPP are not removed from their leadership positions, the party will continue to suffer,” he declared.

Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, who served under President Akufo-Addo’s administration, stressed the urgent need to cleanse the party of what he referred to as “bad elements.” According to him, this is the only way to regain the trust of both the party’s grassroots supporters and the general public.

He also criticized former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, describing his leadership style as “unreceptive and close-minded.”

His comments come at a time when the NPP is facing intense internal pressure, with many calling for reforms after the party’s significant loss of parliamentary seats and the presidency in the 2024 elections.
