Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has officially been sworn in as the Vice President of Ghana, making history as the first woman to hold the position. The ceremony took place on January 7, 2025, at the iconic Independence Square in Accra, where Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo administered the oath of office.

 

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, who served as the running mate to President-elect John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 general elections, assumes office following Mahama’s decisive victory over New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, which secured him a second term as president.
