Ghana captain Andre Ayew has been released by Qatar Stars League giant Al Sadd SC with immediate effect, the club has announced.
Ayew has agreed to leave the club on a mutual consent after both parties agreed to go their separate ways two years after the Ghana captain joined the club on a free transfer after leaving Swansea City AFC.
The 33-year-old former Olympic Marseille player and Ghanaian international scored 15 goals and one assist in 21 matches in his first season with the club ending the season as the team’s top scorer and second highest scorer in the league.
Ayew went ahead to win the league title with the club in his first season and helped them to qualify to the Asia Football Confederation Champions League.
“OFFICIAL: Al-Sadd SC has reached an agreement with Andre Ayew to terminate his contract with the club by mutual consent. Thank you Andre”, the club announced.
This season, Ayew has found the back of the net three times and provided one assist in nine League games, scoring one in four AFC champions league games for the Black and Whites outfit.
