Former President of Ashgold Confederations Cup opponents RS Berkane, Fouzi Lekjaa, is on the verge of being appointed as the Finance Minister of Morocco.
Dailymailgh.com understands Fouzi who resigned earlier this month after a decade in charge also stepped down as the President of the Moroccan FA andwill in the coming days resign as the Vice President of CAF with the political appointment looming.
Lekjaa, who is very influential in African football, is not new to controversies as he was accused of head-butting Ethiopian Referee Bamlak Tessema during RS Berkane’s CAF Confederations Cup final penalty lost to Zamalek in May this year. He was initially banned for a year from all football activities but won the appeal last month and the charges were dropped.
Before resigning from Berkane, Lekjaa used his own pocket money to sign five players for the club and has been working behind the scenes in their effort to bring Frenchman Luis Fernández to coach the club.
Lekjaa will be at the Stade Municipal to watch his hometown team RS Berkane on Friday September 27 as they take on Ashgold in the CAF Confederations Cup second leg game.
