Seven executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sagnarigu constituency have been suspended over disturbances which led to destruction of party properties.
Scores of supporters of the NPP over the weekend went on rampage – destroying properties at the party constituency office to protest failed attempts to recruit them as officers in the ongoing National Identification Exercise registration.
According to them, the national executives of the party gave a quota for delegates to be recruited for the exercise but the regional executives deprived them of the opportunity.
However, the Northern regional executives upon investigations into the chaos have decided to suspend the seven.
“After preliminary investigations, the committee recommends that disciplinary actions be taken against the following executives for the various roles they played in the said disturbances contrary to the provisions of the party constitution:

Mohammed Firdaws -Gurugu Prim C Youth Organizer
Mohammed Osman Sonaa -Tamasco AB Youth Organizer
Fatau Fuseini – Chairman, Jisonaayili Arabic School B
“The regional party has, in the light of this, suspended all the seven affected executives pursuant to Artcile 3(7) of the party constitution and accordingly referred their conduct to the Regional Disciplinary Committee of the party for disciplinary actions. They are encouraged, in their own interest, to avail themselves for the necessary disciplinary proceedings,” a statement by the regional secretary Alhaji Sibdow Alhassah Yakubu said.
