Three persons have been arrested in an attempt to target Ghana’s presidency with an “ultimate aim of destabilizing the country,” the information ministry said in a statement Monday, 23 September 2019.

The three identified as Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm and his two accomplices – Mr. Ezor Kafui (a local weapon manufacturer) and Mr. Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu (aka BB or ADC) were arrested with weapons and other explosives.

“The joint operation was to neutralize an elaborate plot targeted at the Presidency, and with the ultimate aim of destabilizing the country. The arrest and seizure come after fifteen (15) months of surveillance and gathering of evidence on the activities of the prime suspects and others,” the statement from the information minister said.

The arrests took place at a hospital known as Cital Hospital at Alajo and Bawaleshie near Dodowa all in the Greater Accra region. It was a joint operation carried out by the police CID, BNI and Defense Intelligence, the statement added.

Some of the items retrieved were five locally manufactured pistols with magazines fitted on, a foreign pistol with magaiznes, , three locally manufactured pistol barrels, three smoke grenades, 22 improved explosives devices, nine NATO AK47 rounds, two AK47 magazines and long knife.

The rest are the outlined plan for the operation presented by some soldiers at one of their meetings at Next-Door Resort, seven mobile phone, ipads, decoders, modem and machines and materials for manufacturing weapons and IEDS.
