Senegal and German Bundesliga giant Bayern München super star player, Sadio Mané has been crowned Men’s African Player of the Year 2022.
The former Liverpool forward beat former club teammate and Egypt star Mohamed Salah and national teammate, Edouard Mendy to the award after an impressive year which saw him impress for both club and country in Morocco on Thursday evening.
Mané was the starman for the Teranga Lions of Senegal when they won their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations title in February when the competition was held in Cameroon, beating Egypt in the final on penalty shoot-outs.
The 30-year-old again scored the winning spot kick for the Teranga Lions as they secured a World Cup spot ahead of Salah’s Egypt a month later.
He banged in 23 goals and provided five assists for Liverpool during the 2021/22 season and won the FA Cup before joining Bayern at the end of the season.
He joined Germany Bundesliga record Champions Bayern München this summer ahead of the 2022-23 season in Europe which starts on August 5.
