A dusk to dawn curfew has been imposed on the people of Atulbabisi in the Upper East regional capital of Bolgatanga following chieftaincy clashes.

At least one person has been confirmed dead in the Tuesday renewed violence involving two families.

A sporadic cross fire between two gates left 31-year-old, Peter Adakuma dead after sustaining gunshot wounds.

The body of the deceased believed to be a member of the Awogeya Labona Abilba IV side has since been deposited at the Bolgatanga Government Hospital.

Several other persons also believed to be members of the Naaba Abeka Nonge Buuri Mayinga family are nursing serious wounds at the same hospital.

A Regional Security Council meeting is expected to be held over the development.

A similar incident was also recorded in the same vicinity a few days ago.

At least three persons including two police officers were shot while trying to control two groups of rioting youth.

It is not known what actually triggered the clashes but the two factions who are members from the same royal family, have been embroiled in a chieftaincy dispute dating back to 2014.
