Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML), the company implicated in a controversial 10-year contract with the Finance Ministry, has filed a ¢10 million lawsuit against the Fourth Estate and its owner Manasseh Azure Awuni.

The media outlet released “The GH¢3bn Lie Documentary,” but SML claims the report has irreparably damaged its reputation, impacting operations. SML is seeking ¢10 million in damages—¢1 million for defamation and ¢9 million for exemplary damages.

The lawsuit demands a perpetual injunction, retraction, apology, and any other orders deemed appropriate by the High Court.

The Fourth Estate’s report implicated SML, the GRA, and the Finance Ministry, alleging irregularities in a 10-year contract. SML refuted the claim, asserting a five-year contract.

An audit, ordered by President Akufo-Addo, is underway, with SML expressing confidence in a clear and accurate depiction of its operations.
