Commissioner of Police, George Alex Mensah (RTD), vehemently denies any involvement in the alleged leaked draft report related to the committee investigating the suspected plot to remove the Inspector General of Police (IGP), popularly known as ‘the Naabugate’.
Speaking to Joy FM on Wednesday (10 January), Mensah categorically refuted the leaked report’s authenticity, emphasizing that it did not originate from the committee.
“When I saw the report, after reading it, I saw that this cannot be a report from the committee. Luckily, today, the chairman has come to verify that what has been brought out is not from the committee. Somebody just wants to disrupt Commissioner George Alex Mensah (RTD). Somebody wants to spoil my political career. Somebody who has the intention to destroy me wants to come and disturb me at this particular time when we are going for our primaries, but God is so good, it is not going to work,” he said.
He further expresses confidence that the committee’s original report, once released, will vindicate him.
“COP Alex George Mensah did not go there to commit any crime,” he asserts.
The retired police commissioner is currently contesting the Asante Bekwai parliamentary seat in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries.
The Chairman of Parliament’s ad hoc committee, Samuel Atta Akyea, also discredits the leaked report’s content, stating unequivocally that it was not the work of the committee.
