A woman has been killed after she was hit by a speeding vehicle Saturday.
The incident happened at the Akrobi barrier on the Wenchi-Nsawkaw road in the Bono Region.
The deceased identified as Attaa Wusuaa was returning from the farm when she was hit by a Nissan Navara vehicle at about 2pm local time.
She was confirmed dead by police officers who were deployed to the scene.
The suspect, identified as Nana Kwaku Gyan, 48, is being detained for interrogation.
Divisional Commander for the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) at Wenchi, DSP Kofi Oduro Amponsah said the suspect will be arraigned before court in the coming days.
“So the victim has died and investigations have started. His [the suspect’s] docket is being prepared for court. It only happened yesterday and we are still on it”, said DSP Kofi Oduro in a telephone interview.
It is gathered that the DV registered vehicle has been impounded by the police.
The body of the victim has since been deposited at the Wenchi Government Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
