A statue of a slain Ghanaian soldier Major Maxwell Mahama will be unveiled Wednesday in the capital Accra.
The late Major Mahama, who was the commander of the military detachment stationed at Diaso in the Upper Denkyira District of the Central region, was lynched by some community folks on May 29, 2017.
Officials of the defense ministry, military high command and government officials will grace the unveiling at the Airport Hills Roundabout in Accra.
Besides the statue, a trust fund has been set up by the government to cater for Major Mahama’s wife and children.
President Nana Akufo-Addo also made a personal donation of Ghc 50,000 towards the fund.
The monument is in line with a request from the late officer’s family.
