Suhum NPP primaries: A story of betrayal and opposition Influence

0

The Suhum constituency has been shaken by the results of the NPP primaries held on January 27, 2024, where Frank Asiedu Bekoe emerged as the new parliamentary candidate. However, the victory has been overshadowed by controversy, as supporters of the incumbent MP, Hon. Kwadwo Asante, have raised objections, mirroring the same grievances that followed his own victory in the 2020 primaries.

What has since unfolded is a narrative of betrayal, personal ambition, and opposition interference. Driven by the dissatisfaction of his followers, Kwadwo Asante has announced his intention to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming general elections, with the support of the opposition NDC.

The signs of this alliance were apparent when NDC parliamentary candidate Prince Tabiri revealed plans to collaborate with Kwadwo Asante on building a clinic for the Zongo community. It has become evident that Kwadwo Asante’s decision is motivated not by a desire to serve the community but by personal ambition and a hunger for power.

This development raises serious concerns about the integrity of Kwadwo Asante and the motives of the opposition NDC. Why would a party that has consistently opposed the NPP’s development efforts now support a breakaway candidate? What do they stand to gain from this partnership?

The people of Suhum must see through this strategy and reject Kwadwo Asante’s independent candidacy. They should support a candidate who genuinely represents their interests, rather than one driven by self-interest and opposition backing. The NPP, with its proven track record of development, remains the best choice for the constituency. Let us unite and work towards a brighter future under the leadership of Hon. Frank Asiedu Bekoe.
