Four local council heads (District Chief Executives) in Northern Ghana are involved in a near-fatal motor crash on Monday, police sources said.
The four were heading to Wa in the Upper West region for a national programme when the accident occurred. A commercial vehicle, according to eyewitnesses, veered off its lane and collided into the vehicle of the DCEs at Datoli near Tamale, some 622km drive from the capital Accra.
They are the DCE for Zabzugu -Ahmed Iddi Adakwah, Mion- Mohammed Hashim, Bimbila – Abdulai Yaqub and Gushegu -Mohammed Musah.
They have been rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, medical officers confirm to Dailymailgh.com. Source say they are likely to be flown to the capital due to their critical condition.
The Northern regional Minister Salifu Saeed has confirmed the motor crash to the media.
“Three of the DCEs are in critical condition but the doctors are working on it. I’m happy to announce that the doctors have managed to stabilise them but I have directed that they are taken to Accra,” the minister is reported to have said.
