Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been confirmed as the Member of Parliament for Techiman South following a court-ordered collation of results at the Electoral Commission’s (EC) regional office in Accra.
Korsah emerged victorious with 46,663 votes, defeating Christopher Bayere Basongti of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who garnered 43,429 votes.
This declaration was made after the Accra High Court directed the EC to finalize results for several constituencies, including Techiman South, Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, and Ablekuma North, by January 6, 2025. The court’s decision came in response to mandamus applications filed by NPP candidates, aimed at ensuring transparency and the completion of outstanding collation processes.
The ruling highlighted the importance of accuracy in electoral outcomes. Earlier, Charles Forson of the NPP was declared the winner of the Tema Central constituency after a recount of results from two unresolved polling stations.
Korsah’s victory not only secures his position as the MP for Techiman South but also underscores the High Court’s pivotal role in safeguarding fairness and accountability in Ghana’s electoral process.
