The police have grabbed three suspects following the killing of two cops on Wednesday at Gomoa Buduburam, near Kasoa in the Central Region.
The three alleged robbers identified as Ibrahim Zakaria, Issac Amissah and Dominic Commey, shot the two police officers in a gun battle, the Service confirmed in a terse statement.
“The vehicle, an unregistered Toyota Camry has also been retrieved together with some relevant articles. Both officers stationed at Kasoa MTTD have been confirmed dead,” the Ghana Police Service posted on its Facebook page.
The statement added: “The public is encouraged to remain calm and provide information to help weed out criminals in our society.”
One of the cops died on the spot while the other died at the Police Hospital. They were on task force duties at Kasoa-Winneba highway when the incident occurred.
The Kasoa police unit is holding the three suspects. Items found in the unregistered vehicle include registered document of pistol 343-61265 bearing the name of Eric Kojo Duah. Meanwhile, six 40mm expended shells were found at the scene.
