A sorrowful incident occurred last Friday at Akyem Anamase near Oda in the Eastern Region, where Chief Inspector Godwin Beniba, a groom and the Station Officer at the Anamase Police Station, tragically lost his life during his wedding ceremony.

Chief Inspector Beniba collapsed moments after arriving at the Anamase Hotel, where the event was set to take place. The groom, along with his best men, was eagerly waiting for his bride, Florence Debrah, who was in one of the rooms at the venue preparing for the ceremony.

Eyewitnesses reported that Chief Inspector Beniba mentioned feeling dizzy upon entering the event grounds. Before assistance could be provided, he collapsed unexpectedly.

He was immediately rushed to the nearby Anamase Clinic by some attendees, but medical staff at the facility declared him dead on arrival.

This heartbreaking news left the hundreds of guests in shock and grief. Among the mourners were police officers who had traveled from Accra, Koforidua, Oda, Akyem Achiase, Akyem Swedru, and other locations to witness the couple’s union. Many of them were inconsolable, overwhelmed by the tragedy.

The large quantities of food and drinks prepared for the celebration went unused as stunned guests departed the venue in sorrow.

The late Chief Inspector Beniba’s family, who had traveled from his hometown in the Northern Region, arranged for his body to be taken to the Oda Government Hospital morgue for preservation and further examination.

As reported by Graphic.com.gh, the once vibrant community was plunged into mourning. The tragedy dampened the usual festive atmosphere of the Christmas season, leaving residents in deep sorrow over the untimely loss.
