Tragic Loss: Community police officer killed in Kumasi Abrepo traffic collision

A tragic incident unfolded at the Kumasi Abrepo Junction traffic light on Friday, May 17th, resulting in the untimely death of a community police officer in her mid-20s while on duty.

 

According to witnesses, the victim, known only as Tina, and a fellow police officer were managing traffic due to a malfunctioning traffic light, a routine task for them. At around 10:00 a.m., a private car experienced brake failure, causing it to lose control and collide with five individuals.

 

“The officer was the first to be struck. She became trapped under a bus and despite rescue efforts, she was declared dead,” recounted an eyewitness at the scene.

 

In addition to the tragic loss of the police officer, a medicine seller sustained critical injuries, along with three others involved in the accident.

 

Upon inspection, police noted blood stains at specific points on the scene, which were marked for further investigation. Photographs were taken to aid in the ongoing inquiry.

 

The vehicle involved in the accident, bearing registration number GS 9494-21, has been seized by the police. Furthermore, the driver has been detained for questioning as part of the investigation process.
