TV3’s Juliet Bawuah in US for State Department-sponsored International Leadership Programme

The US Embassy in Accra has selected leading female Sports Journalist, Juliet Bawuah, for the International Visitor Leadership Programme.

She will be in the United States for the next three weeks alongside some 47 other female sports journalists selected from across the world.

She has since arrived in the United States for the programme, which is being held under the theme “Women’s Empowerment through Sports Journalism”.

In a post on Twitter, she said “Excited to be selected from Ghana by @USEmbassyGhana for the International Visitor Leadership Programme on Women’s Empowerment through Sports Journalism organized by @StateDept Looking forward to a useful experience with colleague female sports journalists from across the world.”

The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program. Through short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields experience the United States firsthand and cultivate lasting relationships with their American counterparts. Professional meetings reflect the participants’ professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the United States.

Each year nearly 5,000 professionals are invited the U.S. on the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). More than 200,000 International Visitors have engaged with Americans through the IVLP, including more than 500 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government.

Participants are nominated and selected annually by the staff at U.S. Embassies around the world.

A respected local name in sports journalism, Juliet is the Founder of the Africa Women’s Sports Summit. She holds a Masters from the Cardiff University, and has worked with leading brands including Citi FM, Metro TV, ETV, GOAL, and Africanews, a sister station of Europe’s leading news network Euronews. She is also a regular contributor for some of the world’s leading news outlets including the BBC, DW and TRT.
