Ghanaian defender John Boye was on target for Metz on Saturday evening.
The skipper of Metz netted the winner for his side nine minutes away from full time with a sumptuous header inside the goal area following a corner kick.
The 32-year-old Ghanaian center back has two goals this season for Metz in the ongoing French Ligue 1 with both goals securing vital wins for his team.
Opa Nguette broke the deadlock in the seventh minute of the game to put the host 1-0 with a fine diving header after a beautiful team play by the home side.
Just four minutes after the break, Lucas Deaux restored parity for Nîmes to silence the noisy home fans with all to play for in the remaining 40 minutes.
Both sides provided some moments of quality play with the host slightly ahead of the visitors with their ball procession.
Boye scored the all important goal inside the 81st minutes reacting the quickest to Habib Maiga’s flicking header to head home the winner to send the home fans into a wild jubilation.
Metz won the game 2-1 over Nîmes and are currently occupying fourteenth position on the league log with 11 points above automatic relegation places.
