At least three persons are reportedly dead after a fuel tanker overturned and caught fire at Onyina Nofo, a community in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region.

According to eyewitnesses, the fuel tanker lost control and rammed into a passenger vehicle on the Kumasi-Tepa road Monday, 24 May 2021.

The police are yet to comment on the incident, but sources say the dead include the driver of the fuel tanker, his mate and a one-year-old boy.

At least 15 houses have been torched while scores who survived various degrees of injuries have been hospitalised, according to another eyewitness.

Emergency services including the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), firefighters and the police have been at the scene to bring the situation under control.
