On July 28, 2024, Vine Christian High School (VCHS) claimed victory at the Pan African Robotics Competition held in Dakar, Senegal. This renowned event attracts top high school robotics teams from across Africa, and VCHS triumphed with their innovative design and outstanding performance.
The competition, known for its rigorous challenges, required teams to design, build, and program robots to perform intricate tasks and compete in various trials. VCHS, already recognized as the champions of the Ghana Robotics Competition 2023, showcased remarkable skill, creativity, and teamwork, securing the top position among a highly competitive field.
The event brought together about 400 talented students from 14 African nations, including Mali, Uganda, Lesotho, Madagascar, Nigeria, and Côte d’Ivoire.
Mr. Triumph Tetteh, Head of the Coding and Robotics Department at VCHS, commented, “Our students have put in several hours of hard work, dedication, and innovation to reach this milestone. Their success at this competition is a testament to their commitment and passion for robotics. We are incredibly proud of what they have accomplished.”
The winning team comprised Miss Alexine Seiba Amoako-Mensah, Masters Zachary Opoku, Joshua Sunkwa-Mills, and Joshua-Caleb Dadzie. They utilized their diverse skills and a strategic approach to achieve this success.
This victory underscores VCHS’s growing prominence in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) education and its dedication to nurturing young innovators.
