The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for both School and Private Candidates.
In a statement issued on Saturday (19 October), WAEC indicated that the results for school candidates will be dispatched to their respective schools through the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education.
Malpractices and Sanctions
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has identified incidents of malpractice during the recent examination process.
Following a thorough investigation, the Final Awards and Examiners’ Appointment Committee convened on 16 October to address the issues. As a result, subject results for 377 school candidates and 3 private candidates have been cancelled due to unauthorized materials and collusion.
Additionally, the entire results for 41 school candidates and 1 private candidate have been annulled due to severe infractions. Moreover, results for 33 school candidates and 3 private candidates have been withheld pending further investigation.
WAEC has also indicated that results from 149 schools are under review and may be released or cancelled based on the outcome of ongoing inquiries.
Examination Statistics
A total of 569,236 candidates—comprising 282,703 males and 286,533 females—registered for the school examination across 19,505 schools. The examination was conducted at 2,123 centres nationwide, with 3,845 candidates reported absent. Among the candidates were 59 with visual impairments, 263 with hearing impairments, and 161 with other special needs accommodations.
For the BECE Private Candidates examination, 1,390 candidates—750 males and 640 females—registered across 15 centres, primarily in regional capitals. Out of these, 57 candidates were absent.

5. Approve the transaction and receive the checker card instantly via SMS.
Buying from ResultsChecker.com.gh
1. Visit ResultsChecker.com.gh on a smartphone or PC.
2. Choose “BECE Results Checker” and specify the quantity.
3. Click “Buy Now” and provide your name and phone number.
4. Select “Mobile Money” for payment.
5. Verify with the OTP and confirm the payment.
6. Receive the results checker details via SMS immediately.
