Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko George Amoako has acknowledged how important it is for officials, players and supporters to remain focused ahead of their CAF Champions League game in Kumasi.
“We are not swollen-headed because of the 3-2 defeat in Kano last Saturday but rather we are very focused on eliminating our opponent to progress to the next round of qualifiers,” Amoako said in an interview with Dailymailgh.com.
“The players have to concentrate on the field of play throughout the game and should not take any chances because we lost narrowly in Nigeria.
“Our technical team and the playing body knows how important this game is to the management and our fans and they have all promised to give their 101 per cent for the club and are very focused and determined because they know what is at stake.
“There’s no way we should underrate our opponents because we lost by a goal margin so they are not a good side, but the truth is they are a very good side,” Amoako added.
He said:
“Kotoko are bigger than Kano Pillars in terms of history and successes but that wouldn’t matter if we fail to do the needful on August 25 when we host them at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and I am confident we will progress to the next stage no matter what.
“I want to assure all Ghanaians that the Fabulous boys and the Porcupine family will not let the country down come what may.”
Kotoko will take on Kano Pillars of Nigeria in the second leg of the first round of the preliminary stages at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on August 25 at 3 pm.
