‘We beat Hearts of Oak because of consistency’ – Asante Kotoko coach

Deputy coach David Ocloo attributes Asante Kotoko’s victory over Hearts of Oak to their sustained performance, emphasizing the team’s consistency throughout the ongoing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

The Porcupine Warriors, maintaining a flawless record, secured a noteworthy 3-2 win against their rivals at the Baba Yara Stadium during the 14th matchday.

 

In this thrilling encounter, Steven Mukwala netted a crucial brace, complemented by a goal from Isaac Oppong, ultimately sealing the triumph for Asante Kotoko. On the opposing side, Linda Mtange and Martin Kakari contributed two goals for Hearts of Oak.

 

Reflecting on the match, Ocloo remarked on the changing dynamics of football, highlighting the significant role that form now plays in clashes between traditional powerhouses like Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.

He noted, “Gone are the days where form does not count in Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko games but now football is dynamic.” Ocloo underscored the fluid nature of the sport, emphasizing that the difference in the game witnessed that day was a result of this dynamism. He concluded, “Our victory is due to consistency.”

 

Asante Kotoko currently occupies the 7th position on the Premier League standings with 22 points. Looking ahead, they are set to host Great Olympics in the upcoming Matchday 15 fixture, aiming to build upon their recent success and further solidify their standing in the league.
