Market women in the Juaben Municipality of the Ashanti Region have endorsed the candidature of Francis Owusu-Akyaw to become the parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The governing NPP goes to the polls on Saturday (27 January) to elect candidates in constituencies with sitting MPs for the 2024 elections.
Owusu-Akyaw who has been tipped to unseat the sitting MP and Deputy Minister of Communications Ama Pomaa Boateng, has intensified his campaign ahead of the race. At the Juaben market, the women gave him a warm reception as they chanted ‘No Owusu, No vote’.
“We the traders in Juaben, recognise the importance of having a Member of Parliament who is committed to protecting the rights, safety, and future of our people. Owusu-Akyaw has proven himself as a capable and dedicated leader, and we believe he is the best candidate to take Juaben to the promised land”, a leader of the market women’s association told dailymailgh.com in a sideline interview.
“His presence here shows we will not be left out when it comes to development”, another said adding: “We are for him, and I appeal to delegates to crown him on Saturday”. “We want change, and nothing will stop him”.
Owusu-Akyaw has expressed strong optimism that he will be endorsed by party delegates to lead the party and retain the seat for the governing party.
“We are in touch with our delegates, and we have laid our vision to them”, a member of Owusu-Akyaw’s campaign team told dailymailgh.com adding, our boss represents the NPP’s best choice in Juaben; the grounds are fertile, and this will manifest on Saturday”.
