The Ghana Police Service has apologised to the Dagbon Kingdom after a driver was assaulted at the Gbewaa Palace last week.

Located in the Northern Region, the Gbewaa Palace is the seat of the Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama, the Overlord of Dagbon.

The suspect driver reportedly run to the palace for cover after he was chased by some police officers having refused to stop at a police checkpoint when signalled to do so.

While apologising for the conduct of the officers, the Northern Regional Police Commander, COP Timothy Yoosa Bonga assured Yaa-Naa and the good people of Dagbon that such unprofessional behaviour would not be repeated.

He said the officers in question have also been interdicted and would be dealt with administratively.
