Nigerian recording artiste, Victor Adere, popularly known as Victor AD, has hailed Ghana for the massive success of his hit single ‘Wetin We Gain’, which, according to him, became popular in Ghana before his home country.

Narrating how the song became the toast of music lovers and occupied the number one spot on music charts for a long time, Victor AD told Class91.3FM’s Touch of Class on Tuesday, 17 September 2019 hosted by Natalia Andoh that: “A few weeks after I did ‘Wetin We Gain’, I got a call from Ghana that I should come for a show. I was [surprised] because this song had not even blown in Nigeria and you guys are asking me to come to Ghana for a show”.

He said he asked himself the names of the musicians who could have been billed for the same show and asked if any top Ghanaian artistes had already been included.

Victor AD revealed that to his surprise, the organisers said no other major acts had been included and the organisers added that they wanted him for the show together with another less-known Nigerian artiste.

Victor AD noted that it was that show that prompted him to acquire a passport as he had not even travelled outside Nigeria before at the time.

At the event, he pointed out that: “Everybody was singing ‘Wetin We Gain’ back-to-back and word-for-word, so, ‘Wetin We Gain’ was actually bigger in Ghana first before Nigeria”.

For him, it was amazing and “a dream come true” since he was not expecting such a reception and acceptance in his early days.

On 26 January 2019, Victor AD released his third single titled ‘Tire You’ in which he featured multiple award-winning Nigerian superstar Davido. This was followed by ‘Emoji’ on 15 May 2019.

His latest project is titled ‘Kpo Kpo Didi’ which is gradually gaining grounds.
