Ghanaian actor and comedian Kwadwo Nkansah, widely known as Lil Win, has opened up about the distress he has faced due to a hate campaign against him following a tragic accident in May that resulted in the death of a 3-year-old boy.

Speaking at the Great Minds International School’s speech and prize-giving day in Ahenkro, Ashanti Region, the 37-year-old lamented the spread of deliberate negative narratives on social media, which have targeted him since the incident.

He expressed his sorrow, stating that he has never wronged anyone and would never intentionally cause an accident that could endanger his own life.

“With the recent issue that happened to me, people called me proud and disrespectful, yet I have never fought with anyone or stolen from anyone in Ghana before. I can’t tell if it’s because of the school I built, the house I live in, or the car I drive. There is no reason for me to intentionally orchestrate an accident that could kill me,” Lil Win shared emotionally.

Despite the challenges, Lil Win remains dedicated to his philanthropic efforts and his commitment to making a positive impact in society.

“Good deeds get good rewards. Several years after when I am old, I want to hear an MP say that he or she got his or her education from the school I built. May God bless everyone, especially those who sent their children to my school.

“Due to the overflow of students in my school, I have built another school two minutes away from the first building to accommodate more students,” he added.

The actor is on a GHC50,000 bail and is standing trial at the Asokore Mampong District Court. He has been charged with dangerous driving and negligently causing harm.

The presiding judge Samuel Buabin Quansah on Monday (29 July) adjourned sitting to 22 August, pending the Attorney General’s advice.

Lil Win’s legal team said even though the case has affected their client professionally and personally, they remain hopeful for a resolution that considers the tragic loss and the implications for all parties involved.

“We are waiting for the AG’s report. It is based on this report that we will know how the case will travel,” stated Lil Win’s Lead Counsel Margaret Mary Agyei Twum. “We are mindful of the fact that a young boy is dead, and this changes the narrative. We don’t want to put the family into too much tragedy.”

“This accident has really affected him. The way we wanted the movie [A country called Ghana] to go has been compromised because of the negative comments and the media hype, it has affected the movie itself”, she revealed.
