Police in Assin Wurakese Camp, a town in the Assin Foso Municipality of the Central Region, have arrested a 43-year-old woman, Esi Affumwaa, for allegedly biting a customer’s testicles during a heated altercation over 20 pesewas.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Affumwaa’s drinking spot.

According to reports, Osman, a 36-year-old farmer, had bought a cigarette for GH₵1.20 but initially paid GH₵1, promising to clear the remaining 20 pesewas later. The following day, he returned to purchase another cigarette and paid GH₵5, expecting Affumwaa to deduct his outstanding debt from the amount.

However, when he attempted to make another purchase, assuming the deduction had already been made, Affumwaa confronted him, insisting he pay the 20 pesewas. This sparked an argument that quickly escalated into violence.

Osman alleged that Affumwaa attacked him with a stick, hitting him on the head and causing him to fall to the ground.

“She, with the help of her children, pounced on me, beating me mercilessly before biting my testicles,” he recounted.

Osman said he began bleeding heavily and screamed for help until bystanders rushed him to the hospital. He was hospitalized with serious injuries but has since been discharged.

The Assin Fosu District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jacob Kumedzro, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations were ongoing.
