Armed robbers have attacked and robbed the Eliho Cocoa Company at Samreboi of 220 bags of cocoa at Tarkwa-Nsuem in the Western region Friday.

Narrating the incident to DailyMailGh, the district officer of the Eliho Cocoa Company at Samreboi, Charles Senahey, said a truck of the company with registration number AS 8854-19 was travelling from Samreboi to the Takoradi Port to unload. Just as the truck left Tarkwa-Simpa and headed to Tarkwa-Nsuem, a truck came from nowhere and crisscrossed it, so the driver braked to a halt.

Suddenly the driver saw the robbers come out, pointing guns at him and ordering him to come out. When he obliged, they tied his hands, gagged him, took him to their truck and one of them sped off with him, abandoning him at a nearby rubber plantation.

The driver of the Eliho Cocoa Company is currently on admission at the Dixcove Hospital in Agona-Nkwanta and the Tarkwa-Nsuem Police are on a manhunt for the robbers.

“I haven’t heard something positive from the police yet. But I know they’ll surely find the robbers and make them face justice”, Mr. Senahey said.
