A circuit court in the Central Region has ordered that comedian Funny Face undergoes psychological evaluation to know his mental status before a shooting incident case against him is heard.

The Ofaakor Circuit Court presided by Ebenezer Osei Darko ordered the Ghana Police to send Funny Face to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital explaining that he does not sound normal.

According to the judge, Funny Face is likely to be having a mental crisis and possibly going through depression.

The comedian is facing a charge of discharging firearms without authority as he is alleged to have fired four gun shots at a drinking spot last Wednesday at Millennium City in Kasoa during an altercation with a drinking bar attendant.

The circuit court took into cognizance a plea by lawyers of Funny Face who posited that their client is psychologically challenged in undergoing the trial thereby pleading for clemency and psychological help for him instead of punitive sentence.

The court agreed to their plea and the trial judge therefore ordered for the comedian to be subjected to psychiatric evaluation for two weeks at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital before being made to face trial thereby not unnecessarily trampling on any right of the accused with regard to fair trial.

The comedian’s plea was therefore not taken until the psychiatric examination is done.
