Tributes are pouring in following the sudden death of the CEO of the Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie.
Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, on Wednesday night eulogized the former general secretary of the New Patriotic Party as a man who paid his dues to the ruling party and Ghana at large.
Known by many as Sir John, lawyer Owusu-Afriyie died of Covid-19 Wednesday evening in Accra.
News of his sudden demise has shocked many, especially the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party, which he served as General Secretary for some years.
“I have learnt with sadness the passing of Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie aka Sir John, former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party and CEO of the Forestry Commission,” Dr Bawumia wrote on Facebook Wednesday night.
“I spoke with Sir John only yesterday but little did I know that was our last conversation. Sir John was a good man who truly paid his dues to the party and mother Ghana. I will miss him,” he stated.
“My heartfelt condolences to his family.”
“Rest in peace my good friend,” he further added.
