Young Ghanaians have been cautioned to desist from posting their nude pictures on social media to attract fame.

Ghana’s Communication Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, said a lot of young people post such photos out of ignorance but cannot run away from the consequences in future.

“I have also been informed that now the trend is for our young people to post nudes; nude stuff about themselves out there. You are young and blissfully ignorant about the dangers.

“Ten years from now someone will show you the pictures and say, ‘this was the stuff you were putting out there’ without thinking about the implications of it,” Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful told the National Cyber Security Technical Working Group first retreat for 2019.

She added: “We need to inculcate more cyber hygienic practices in our citizenry.”

A lot of young Ghanaian ladies have fallen prey to the nude photo-posting craze including actress Christabel Ekeh, Afia Amoako, Afia Schwarzenegger, Efia Odo, Rashida Malafaka Black Beauty, Wanlov the Kobolor and Wiser Greid.

Mrs Owusu-Ekuful said: “In 2019, I expect to see a different direction with regards to the celebration of the National Cyber Security Awareness Month. Consequently, a theme reflecting this new direction ‘Demonstrating Ghana’s Cybersecurity Readiness’ has been proposed for your further deliberations.”
