A group calling itself the Concerned Citizens for Safety of Upper East Region (COCSUER) has told a miner in Talensi that his latest comments about a recent public backlash he suffered are a sign that his unlawful deeds are haunting him.
The miner, Paazie Naab alias “Commando”, donated two motorbikes to the Upper East Regional Police Command after a section of the public had called for his prosecution for brandishing a gun public and for unlawfully discharging a pistol in public.
Commando, who was also put before a High Court in Bolgatanga in 2013 for four criminal charges in a trial yet to be concluded, incurred the anger of residents of Upper East Region who see his motorbike donations to the police as a way to avoid prosecution. The police in the region also came under criticisms for accepting the gifts from an accused person.
But reacting to the public criticisms, Commando reportedly asked a reporter why the donations he described as an act of generosity should bring about his downfall. Responding to his comments, COCSUER rubbished his donations, described his comments as a complete joke and asked him to prepare to face the full rigours of the law soon.
“Nobody is above the law. We want to tell the public that no matter what Commando does, he will face prosecution soon. If he likes, he should go and donate helicopters or factories and if the Upper East Regional Police Command like they should accept the gifts again, Commando will still face prosecution because nobody is above the law.
“We would not be surprised if Commando and his shameless supporters suddenly make another attempt tomorrow to donate to a law court or try to renovate a court building as our legitimate calls for his prosecution grow louder,” the group said in a statement signed by its Chairman, Zotipelba Akobulgo.
Below is a fully copy of the group’s statement.
A PRESS STATEMENT BY THE CONCERNED CITIZENS FOR SAFETY OF UPPER EAST REGION (COCSUER) 30TH SEPTEMBER 2022.
We the CONCERNED CITIZENS FOR SAFETY OF UPPER EAST REGION (COCSUER) have noticed a fresh attempt by one Paazie Naab alias Commando and his cohorts to divert public attention from some credible news reports published recently about his unlawful deeds and criminal trial which the Republic commenced against him at the High Court 2 in Bolgatanga in 2013.
We have seen an essay which was published today 30th September 2022 in which Commando is quoted as saying he regrets donating motorbikes to the Upper East Regional Police Command because the donation is now being used to put him in a bad light. We describe the write-up as an essay not only because of the cheap errors contained in it right from the caption down to the last paragraph but also because it does not sound like news. Even as the writer of the essay sought to do pathetic damage control for Paazie Naab, the name “Paazie” is also wrongfully spelt throughout. How can a supposed writer of a news report write “cardboard” when the simple word that was clearly intended was just “cupboard”?
The grammatical errors in the essay are as comical and ridiculous as what Commando himself is said to have stated about the credible news that has widely exposed him in Ghana and beyond. We read in that funny essay that he only donated the motorbikes out of generosity and not because he had any ulterior motive. He is also quoted in the caption of the essay as asking why his so-called generosity should bring about his downfall. We wish to let him know that generosity does not bring about downfall once it is done with an honest intention and with a clear conscience. The only thing that can bring about your downfall is your own unlawful deeds which have been so clear to the general public. You are now talking this way because your unlawful deeds clearly are now haunting you in the name of the law.
The credible news we have read on credible websites about him shows clear evidence that Commando and four men were put before the High Court 2 in Bolgatanga in 2013 for four criminal charges including stealing. The lawyer who secured court bail for him and his gang was Mr. Joseph Kpemka, former MP for Tempane Constituency and Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice. If there is still anybody who pretends to be in doubt, Mr. Kpemka is still around. Such persons can verify from Lawyer Kpemka or verify from the High Court 2 in Bolgatanga. That case is still not determined yet because we have read in the news published by the Fourth Estate recently that the case was withdrawn for no reasons, which means that Commando and his gang have not been acquitted and discharged yet and which means that by law the criminal trial can still be resumed as and when the complainant Mr. Buyak Kolog popularly known as Polo wishes to pursue the case. We are also reliably informed that Polo will as a matter or urgency purs
ue justice in the law court in the nearest time possible and we encourage him to do so to avoid such familiar suspects disturbing society and throwing their weights about.
We have also seen some recent videos showing how Commando was unlawfully discharging a gun in public. We have seen another video showing how he was holding a gun in public and how some police officers who should have arrested him for brandishing a gun in public were rather giving him security in that same video. The videos are on Starr FM’s website, the Fourth Estate’s website et cetera.
All these are open facts and we know that the law must deal with such a person. But it did not come as a surprise to us when we heard that Commando donated motorbikes to the same police who were under pressure from the public to prosecute him in court. We were not surprised about his questionable donations which came as the public was calling for him to be brought to book. Our only shock was that the police accepted such donations from such a person.
Nobody is above the law. We want to tell the public that no matter what Commando does, he will face prosecution soon. If he likes, he should go and donate helicopters or factories and if the Upper East Regional Police Command like they should accept the gifts again, Commando will still face prosecution because nobody is above the law. He can keep showing any form of the generosity to the police and to anybody. He never showed any act of generosity that the public knew about until the public started calling for his prosecution because of his past and recent unlawful deeds. Justice is still going to be served against him in the law court.

If it is true that he has regretted donating the two motorbikes to the Upper East Regional Police Command, it is our opinion that he is only regretting because he has realised that no amount of donations can stop the good people of Talensi and the entire Upper East Region from calling for him to be prosecuted for brandishing gun in public and for unlawfully discharging gun in public and we will make sure that the criminal trial which was started against him by the State in 2013 at the Bolgatanga High Court 2 continues very soon. And is it not even funny, a complete joke and an insult to the intelligence of the public for him to state in the published essay that the only two motorbikes he donated had curbed armed robbery in Talensi? If only two motorbikes truly can curb armed robbery in an entire district, then every district in Ghana needs just two motorbikes to effectively fight crime. What a complete joke.
We the good people of Talensi and the Upper East Region want to assure the general public that we are ready to respond with revealing press statements as many times as Commando and those who are supporting him come out with any misleading publications from any media houses that support wrong deeds and tend to do damage control for him for whatever gains. We are standing by and we will respond anytime they come up with their funny defence again. They should go and defend themselves in the court of law and not defend themselves with funny and questionable donations. We would not be surprised if Commando and his shameless supporters suddenly make another attempt tomorrow to donate to a law court or try to renovate a court building as our legitimate calls for his prosecution grow louder.

Commando will face prosecution soon because crime never expires and nobody is above the law. Those who did similar things were punished in this same country by the same law despite their riches, despite their popularity and despite whatever they have done for or against society. Prosecution is surely coming. We are working seriously at it. Crime does not expire. We are working, we are monitoring and we are standing by.
Thank you, ladies and gentlemen of the press.
