Zimbabwe 0-1 Ghana: High-flying Black Stars pip Warriors

Ghana’s Black Stars pipped the Warriors of Zimbabwe to boost their chances of qualifying for the final stage of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup with a crucial away win on Tuesday afternoon.

The Stars were the better side from the blast of the referee’s whistle and dominated preceding in the opening 20 minutes with a commanding display.

Kudus Mohammed came close to opening the scoring with an ambitious 29th-minute strike from range but his effort missed the goal post narrowly.

English Premier League side Arsenal FC star midfielder Thomas Partey scored a sensational free-kick on the 31st-minute mark to secure all three points for the Black Stars.

The Stars pressed harder for the second goal and asked a lot of questions as Kamaldeen Sulemana broke free from the right but his effort was deflected wide.

The home team’s attempt to pull parity was properly dealt with by the Ghana defence n countless times in the game.

Ajax star Kudus came close to doubling Ghana’s lead after a beautiful passage of play between him and Benjamin Tetteh saw his strike rattle the cross bar.

German-based attacker, Daniel Kofi Kyereh came on for Kamaldeen Sulemana who was not shining as he did in the first half.

Captain Andre Ayew, Caleb Ekuban and Samuel Owusu were all brought on in the last 5 minutes of the gametto replace Jordan Ayew, Kudus Mohammed, and Benjamin Tetteh.

The game ended 1-0 to Ghana

Ghana’s next two games is against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa and Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Ghana.

A win in the remaining two games will see the Stars qualify for the playoffs spot for a place in Qatar next year.
